Autumn in town

  

  Burning red …

 … and golden yellow against the blue sky.

  In town, the scenes are changing every day. The leaves of trees which will all fall off¹ in a couple of weeks are really showing their last moment art show.

  On the street, piles of fallen leaves make our walk more fun. When I find a heap of leaves, somehow I can’t help walking on them. I enjoy the scent of the leaves, the rustling sound and the cushioning the leaves make on the surface of the concrete. As I grew older, I grew out of the habit of splashing in puddles, but I guess I couldn’t get rid of that completely.

  In the second photo, you won’t smell it from the picture, but IT STINKS! Yes, the ginko nuts. I can’t ride on this road without flicking the ginko nuts with my bike tires. My bike goes "ping, pung" several times. ( Speaking of ginko nuts, Will always tells me that the first person who tried to eat a ginko nut was very brave. I totally agree! Who on earth would have imagined that there is some fun part inside the stinky nut. )

  The other day on my way home, my eyes caught very nice fall-colored trees in a tiny path going into the park , so I stopped my bike and made a U-turn and took another photo. This season, if we look around, there are many things for us to enjoy, many chances for us to take a moment to appreciate our life.

街の秋

　燃えるような赤、

　そして青い空を背景に、金色に輝く黄色。

　街の中では、毎日風景が変わっています。あと２週間もするとすっかり落ちてしまう木の葉が、最後ここぞとばかりに美術展を開いてくれているようです。

　道では、落ち葉のかき集められた山が、歩いて通る私たちをさらにワクワクさせてくれます。葉っぱが溜まっているを見ると、何故だかその上を歩かずには居られません。葉の匂い、カサカサいう音、そして、固いコンクリートのうえで葉っぱの柔らかさを歩くのがなんとも心地よいんです。大人になるにつれて、水たまりをバシャバシャ歩く習慣からは成長してしなくなったはずなのに、まだ完全には抜け切っていなかったよう。

　２枚目の写真では、絵からは臭ってこないけど、これがクサイ！そう、ギンナン。この道を、自転車のタイヤでギンナンを吹き飛ばしながら走らないなんて出来ません。私の自転車はピン、プンっと何度が音を出します。（ギンナンと言えば、いつもウィルが私に言います。最初にギンナンを食べようとした人は勇敢だよね。本当、そう思います。一体誰が、あんな臭～い殻の中に楽しい実が入っていると想像したでしょう。

　先日帰宅途中、公園に続く細い通り道の先に秋色あざやかな木々があるのが目に付きました。自転車を止めて、Uターンをして、写真を撮りました。この季節、辺りを見回すと、楽しむものが沢山、一瞬立ち止まって、こんな生活が送れていることに感謝る機会がたくさん転がってます。
