Ichigo on a Diet
About 2 months ago, I took our dog, Ichigo, to the vet1. He told me that her liver was not functioning2 well and so we have to seriously (this time seriously! — We had been told several times before) work on getting her to lose weight.
We were told to cut 10% off of what Ichigo usually eats, so I decided to buy a digital kitchen scale because it’s hard to tell3 how much is 20g or 25g with the traditional kind of scale.
I found a Tanita kitchen scale for just 1,000 yen on the Internet! It’s so great!
I take our canine4 daughter to the vet, but Will is the one who mainly takes care of her at home. (I’m in charge of our feline5 daughter.) First, Will was not really into6 Ichigo’s diet, but now he really enjoys working on this project, he says. The key is this digital scale. He really enjoys measuring everything.
Now even I know 5 pieces of dry food is 1g. I kind of want to put everything on the scale simply because it’s fun. We are getting quite a good sense of weight. Oh, don’t worry! I won’t do that for people. Food only!
Anyway, I’m sure it is the key to7 keeping Ichigo healthy! Good luck, Ichigo!

７ 普段の「鍵」も、「玄関の鍵」は the key to the main door のように使われます。日本語の感覚で"of"を使うのも通じますが、"to" の方が安全圏に落ち着くことが多いと思って使った方が無難です！

いちごちゃん、ダイエットに挑む
２ヶ月ほど前、私たちの犬、いちごを獣医さんに連れて行きました。肝臓の調子が悪く、ちゃんと体重を落とさなければならないと言われました。（今回はマジで！実は、以前にも言われていたのですが…）
普段の食事から１０％減らすようにとアドバイスされました。どのくらいが２０ｇとか２５ｇなのか、普通の秤では分かりにくいので、そこで私はデジタルの秤を買うことにしました。
ネットでタニタのキッチン秤を１０００円丁度で見つけました。これが素晴らしい！
私は、犬の娘を獣医には連れて行きますが、家での普段のお世話係はウィル。（私は猫の娘のお世話係です。）初め、いちごのダイエットにそれほど乗り気ではなかったウィルですが、今は楽しんでいちごちゃんのダイエットに取り組んでいると、本人も言っています。鍵となったのは、このデジタル秤。そうなんです、ウィル、なんでも計るのを楽しんでます。
今では、ドライフード５個が１ｇということまで頭に入っています。楽しいという理由だけで、私もなんでも秤に乗せたくなってしまいます。重さの感覚は結構いい感じに研ぎ澄まされてきていますよ。あ、ご心配なく！人には試しません。食べ物オンリーです！
それはおいといて、どうやらこれがいちごのダイエットの成功の鍵になりそうです！ガンバレ、いちごちゃん！
