Oh, no. I almost forgot about this! I took some photos, so let me put them up1 in my blog quickly.
In September, when I finally felt like it’s about time the heat went down and the air got dry2, something which told us the season was changing was Kin-moku-sei. In English, Fragrant Orange-Colored Olive, but I have never heard people use that name. I think it’s unique to3 countries in Asia? I read it came from China to Japan in the Edo Period.
In the season, it is so nice to catch that smell while I am riding my bike in town. First, the smell comes from nowhere4 and I look around, and I can find a tree with many tiny orange flowers.
First this year, I found Kin-moku-sei downtown.
… but we have one in our garden, too. One day, the breeze blew its scent up to5 me on the second floor.
… and this was the most fun one! On the way home from my job downtown, a Kin-moku-sei tree suddenly appeared. I often take this back street, but until this year I didn’t realize it is a Kin-moku-sei — and it is so nicely trimmed6.
Now a couple of weeks have passed. The scent has been replaced by7 the smell of the gingo nuts8 — what a change! |(‘ 0 ‘)| (Will calls them the dog poop tree.) I have to be careful not to run over9 those things. I don’t want to ride my bike with that stinky10 smell!

キンモクセイ
あー。もう少しで忘れるところでした！写真を撮っていたので、急いでブログに載せます。
９月、やっと暑さが落ち着いて空気が乾いてきた頃に、季節の移り変わりを知らせてくれたのがキンモクセイ。英語ではFragrant Orange-Colored Oliveとなっていますが、一度もそう呼ばれるのを聞いたことはありません。たぶん、アジアにしかないのでしょうかね？江戸時代に中国から日本に来たとなっていました。
キンモクセイが咲く季節、自転車で街を走っていて、この香りがプ～ンと漂ってくるのが何とも言えません。まず、どこからともなくキンモクセイの香りがしてきて、辺りを見回すと、オレンジ色の小花が一杯ついた木が目に留まります。
今年初めは、街の中で見つけました。
でも、我が家の庭にも一本。二階にいた私のところへ、風がその香りを運んでくれました。
そして、一番楽しいのがこちら！街の中での仕事が終わって家に帰る途中、突然キンモクセイの木が姿を現しました。よく通る道なのに、今までこんなところににキンモクセイがあったとは気付きませんでした。それも、こんなにキレイに刈り込まれて。
それからもう２、３週間が経ちました。香りは銀杏の匂いに変わりました。— 何という変化でしょう！|(‘ 0 ‘)|（ウィルは銀杏の木を犬のフンの木と呼びます。）銀杏を踏んづけて走らないように気をつけなきゃ。臭い匂いをくっ付けて自転車を走らせたくはないので！
