Our Halloween
Well, despite1 our worry, our pumpkin made it2 to this time and we made a Jack-o’-lantern!
When Will carved a scary face on a pumpkin a few years ago, it scared some kids too much (I’m sure we were really successful scaring the spirits away3 — and that’s the purpose). Based on4 that experience, this time he tried to modify5 his old design and make it not so spooky6.
Since Will asked me to help him do the eyes, I drew the eyes, imagining7 the eyes of Dayan, the Cat looking aside. One day, Will decided to put marbles8 in the eyes — unfortunately right in the center.
For a couple of days, there was a small unmentioned battle between someone taking the marbles away and someone putting the marbles back, but now the marbles are in.
Our neighbors also made Jack-o’-lanterns. I really like the one which is throwing up.
Halloween is a fun time for kids, but with all the chocolate in the house, Will really enjoys it, too.
*People prepare some candy and chocolate for kids who come treat-or-treating, and so do we for our kid students and our neighbors.

私たちのハロウィーン
私たちの心配もよそに、ウィルのカボチャはこの時期まで持ちこたえてくれて、無事にジャコランタンを作ることが出来ました。
何年か前にウィルが怖い顔のジャコランタンを作った時、怯えた子どももいたので、（それはそれで、ハロウィーンの日に出てくる悪霊を追い払うことが出来て、本来の目的は達成したと思うのですが・・・）、その経験から、今回は前のデザインを少し和らげて、そんなに怖くは作りませんでした。
ウィルが私に目の部分を手伝って欲しいと言ってきたので、横目のねこのダヤンをイメージしながら、私が目を描きました。ある日、ウィルが目にビー玉を入れたらいいと思ったらしく・・・でも、その位置がど真ん中で。（泣）
その後２、３日、ビー玉を取り外す人とビー玉を戻す人との間で、無言のバトルが繰り返されました。でも、今は入っています。
お隣さんちもジャコランタンを作りました。ゲボしてるの、私結構気に入ってます。
ハロウィーンは子どもたちにとって、とても楽しい時。家に一杯チョコレートがあるので、ウィルも同様に喜んでます！
＊外国では“Trick or treat”と言ってキャンディやチョコレートをもらいに回ってくる子どもたちのために、人々はお菓子を準備しています。私たちも習いにくる子どもたちと近所の子どもたちのためにお菓子を用意しています。…だから、ウィルが喜ぶんです！
