◆Summer Vegetables

Summer Vegetables from Our Garden

What are they? — I know you are asking yourself, getting close to the photo and squinting1 your eyes.

These are called Yellow Crookneck2 Squash. Will bought the seeds3 in Seattle this spring and he planted them, and now the plants are producing the squash one after another4.

When we got the first one, we both looked at it for a while and thought "how shall we eat this?" Will, who is our breakfast chef, decided to cook just simply with salt and pepper, and some other herbal spices. It was fun! The texture5 and the taste are both quite close to zuccini. He also made ratatouille with them. That was good, too!

And in another spot, tomatoes are also growing. This is a new variety for us(, but unfortunately we don’t know the name.) The skin6 is very soft, and they are very juicy and sweet. I can tell by these tomatoes why tomatoes belong to the fruit category. They are naturally very shiny as if they were polished7. they are like gems8!!

  Bon appetite!9

p.s. If anyone knows what this kind of tomato is called, please let us know!
