◆White Black Thunder?

White Black Thunder?

Recently, I got to know1 that Black Thunder is a really popular souvenir2 for the Taiwanese. They buy boxes of Black Thunder! It’s kind of3 nice to know that something made in Japan is liked by foreigners.

Speaking of4 Black Thunder that I just mentioned, last week I found another flavor5 of Black Thunder thanks to6 my friend!

A co-worker at the college where I teach gave this to me as a souvenir from Hokkaido — White Black Thunder!

I read that it is made only in Hokkaido, using milk from Hokkaido. Hokkaido has a lot of "white" sweets because of its image as a snowy7 place. However, I didn’t imagine that this "white" image is so powerful that it could override8 "Black" Thunder! (^-^)

*By the way, do you know what people call this funny combination of opposite words? — An oxymoron9. In this case, white is opposite to black, so it makes the word sound interesting! Often English speakers use examples such as "jumbo shrimp" or "an open secret. In daily conversation, you also find oxymora in phrases like "It’s a little too much." or "It’s a little big." Funny, huh?

  Ah, head-butting, too!
