A Sign of Spring

 
  When we take our dog for a walk, we try to get some green leaves for our Ginea pig¹, Charlie. Recently it’s getting easier to find some "fresh vegetables" for him after January and February when there was nothing.

 For this purpose, we have to keep looking down on the ground to find some goodies² while walking³. Thanks to this, however, I found something special that tells us spring is right around the corner⁴ — butterburs⁵.

And once I was aware of⁶ it, I could see that so many things are getting ready for spring. Photinia in our garden started having tiny red buds⁷ and also the Aoki already have some berries, and so on.

 I feel it’s so amazing that plants are doing something quite active inside of them while people are shivering⁸ in the cold weather. Anyway, it’s really fun to see these changes. I can’t wait for spring to come!!

春の兆し

　犬を散歩に連れて行くとき、私たちはモルモットのチャ―リーに緑の葉を採ってくるようにしています。なんにもなかった１月、２月も終わり、最近はチャーリーに「新鮮な野菜」を見つけてあげるのはだんだん楽になってきました。

 
　そのせいで、 散歩のときはいつも何かいいものをみつけようと下を向いて地面を見て歩かなければなりません。でも、そのおかげで、春がそこまで来ているのを教えてくれる素敵なものに出会いました— ふきのとうです。

　一度気がついたら、たくさんのものが春を迎える準備をしているのが目に飛び込んできました。庭のアカメモチが小さな赤い芽を付けていたり、アオキが既に実をつけていたり。

　人間が寒さで震えているです間に、植物の中ではかなり活発なことが起こっているなんて、本当に不思議だなと思います。まあ、こういった変化を見るのは、本当にたのしみです。春が来るのが待ち遠しい!!
