  The fun Halloween time is over. Sorry 2 days have passed, but I’ll mark this blog as of¹ October 31. Because we were super busy making² Jack-o’-lanterns and preparing candy for our kid students, I just couldn’t make time to write a blog.

 

  This year Will succeeded in growing³ a lot of pumpkins (you can look at our blog dated August 31) and thanks to Will’s newly developed hair dryer method, they all made it⁴ to Halloween.

 

  They successfully became Jack-o’-lanterns!

 

Day 1 — With the help of his student, 2 Jack-o’-lanterns were born.

 

Day 2 — 2 more joined. Later when we had a rainy day, they all tangled up⁵ under an umbrella to avoid the rain.

 

After that, a funny happy Jack-o’-lantern was born.

 

Then, the next day an angry one was born.

 

Finally the biggest one, which weighed 63 kg, was born.

 

Now all of them are together and sitting happily in front of the house.

 

Every day and night, and also between classes, Will dug⁶ and dug inside the pumpkins and carved⁷ one after another. Every night when he went to bed, he said "I need an idea for the face." When he finally made the last one, he said in a high tired voice, "Yippee! I don’t have to make any more!"

 

During this time, we enjoyed hearing people talking about our Jack-o’-lanterns outside. Especially we loved the kids voices. Sometimes we heard "Don’t you think there are more than yesterday?" and we giggled and said they were right.

 

Now we still have them outside even though Halloween is finished. If you want to see really scary Jack-o’-lanterns, you should see them as they get older. Their faces change and they get pretty horrifying⁸. Come see them!
