Flower Shopping Spree!  

(Oops. I prepared this, but I forgot to upload it…)

 

  I had a great flower shopping day with my friend during Golden Week. Finally, our tradition¹ for Golden Week came back! It took 4 years to go back to our old style. (We went out together during the corona time, but we drove to one nursery² separately, met there, spent just a couple of hours together and said good-bye there. It was not much fun.)

 

 

  I got up early, made some coffee and put some snacks³ in a bag, and off I went. I headed to Izumi, got to my friend’s house and we got into her car⁴ and hit the road⁵! Chatting and laughing, we walked aounnd and chose carefully what we wanted to plant in our gardens. We can always kill 2 hours easily at one single nursery. I got a basket full of flowers that I liked.

 

 

  On another day during Golden Week I bought some more flowers with Will. We visited 3 nurseries. The flowers that I bought with my friend were not enough and we needed to fill in some more spots in our garden. It is so much fun to fill a shopping basket with flowers⁶. Unlike other things, flowers at nurseries are not so expensive, so you can really buy a lot for just 3 or 4,000 yen! That’s why I always look forward to my Golden Week flower shopping spree⁷ the most!

 

 

  …. and here it is! The sight of the back of our car full of flowers. Doesn’t it look fun?

 

    

 

 

  We put all the flowers in the garden before they went to their spots. After that, thinking about the colors and heights, we planted them. Finally, our garden bloomed⁸ in the pleasant spring light of May! It feels so nice!!

 
   

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

花の買い物！

　GWに友人と花の買い物を楽しんで来ました。やっと以前のGWの恒例行事が戻ってきました。以前と同じことをするのに４年かかりました。（コロナがまた落ち着いていない時にも一緒に出掛けましたが、その時は別々に園芸店まで車で向かい、２時間程一緒に過ごし、現地で分かれるという方法を取ったので、そんなに楽しくはありませんでした。）

　早起きをし、コーヒーを淹れ、軽食をバッグに詰め、いざ出発。泉に向かい、友人宅に着き、彼女の車に乗り込んで、苗屋に向かいました。おしゃべりしたり笑ったりしながら歩き回り、庭に植えたい花を念入りに選びました。いつも一軒で軽く２時間は過ごせます。かご一杯分の欲しい花をゲットしました。

　また、GWの別な日にも、今度はウィルと花を買いに出ました。３ヵ所の苗屋さんを廻りました。友人と出掛けた時に買った花では十分ではなかったので庭のいくつかの場所をもうちょっと花で埋める必要がありました。買い物かごを花で埋め尽くすというのは本当に楽しい！他のものを買うのとは違い、苗屋さんでの花はそこまで高くないので、３～4000円も出せば、たくさん買えます。だから、GWの花の買い物をいつも楽しみにしているんです！

　…ほら、こちらです！花でいっぱいになった車の後方部。楽しそうでしょ？

　それぞれの場所に植える前に庭に全て並べてみました。それから、色彩と高さを考えながらそれらを植えました。これでやっと私たちの庭も５月の心地良い春の日差しの中、花開きました。い～気分！
