Shopping Spree
( A late report )
Just like many other people in Japan, I always look forward to Golden Week.There are many reasons for waiting for Golden Week, but every year I have one specific unchanged plan for Golden Week— a shopping spree1!!
What kind of shopping?
Flowers, flowers, flowers!!
This is the only day that I don’t share time with my family during these holidays, but with my old friend. We are out all day, literally ALL DAY LONG. I get up early ( I can’t sleep in because I’m so excited ! ), pour coffee in my starbucks tumplers for two people, and head for2 my friend’s house with my family cheering, " Enjoy your shopping ! " This day especially, I feel like I’m a hunter-gatherer3 for our family garden! ( Simply justifying4 my crazy shopping tour. )
Since I visit her house first, we always start this trip by checking her garden. We often exchange some plants that we grew in our gardens. Already at this point, I put some plants in my car to take home.
This year, me and my friend visited three nurseries5, and we were together for about 8 hours. Even taking 2 hours off from that for our lunch & chat break, we easily spent 6 hours in the nurseries! Every year, after 7 o’clock, we end our shopping spree, saying "we have to stop now."
We go aound in one car, so can you imagine how crowded the car is with flowers? The photo on the top is my portion and you can double it to imagine how many flowers we bought altogether. It was quite a sight ! After visiting one spot, we come back to the car with both arms full. We both say "Look! We bought too much! " but actually, we don’t really mean it. We both are already enchanted6. Can’t think straight7.
I said good bye to 5 Dr. Noguchis. I’ll try to put some food with red tags in a basket at the supermaket for a while.
However, remember ! There is another great part of this shopping spree. This joy lasts every day for a long time. I can enjoying looking at these flowers and taking care of them until fall. ( I admit I was born to justify anything! )

買い物三昧
（遅"蒔き"ながらの報告）
日本にいる他の多くの人がそうであるように、私もいつもゴールデンウィークを心待ちにしています。ゴールデンウィークを楽しみに待つ理由はたくさんありますが、毎年特別な変わることのない予定が一つ。買い物三昧!!
何の買い物ですかって？
花、花、花です!!
この日だけは唯一この休暇中に家族とは時間を過ごしません。昔からの友達と過ごすんです。一日、本当に文字通り一日中出掛けます。早起きし（ワクワクしてゆっくりなんて寝ていられません。）、２人分のコーヒーをスタバのタンブラーに注ぎ、家族に「楽しく買い物しておいでね～」とエールをもらって、友達の家に向かいます。この日はいつもに増して、家族の庭のために「いいものを集めてくるぞー!」という意気込みになります。（単に、自分のクレイジーな買い物ツアーを正当化しているだけですけど。）
初めに彼女の家に行くので、いつもこのツアーは彼女の庭をチェックすることから始まります。私たちはよく自分たちの庭で育てた植物を交換します。この時点ですでに、お持ち帰り用の植物が車に積み込まれます。
今年は３ヶ所のお花やさんを回りました。合計８時間彼女を一緒にいました。お昼ごはんとおしゃべりタイムの２時間を引いても、お花やさんで軽く６時間は過ごしました。毎年、７時を過ぎたころに「もうやめなくちゃね」といって、買い物三昧の日に幕が下りるのです。
車１台に乗って私たちは動き回ります。車の中が花でどれだけ一杯になるか想像つきますか？上の写真が私の分ですから、２人分合わせてどれくらい花を買ったかイメージするにはそれを倍にしてみてください。かなり見ごたえのある光景です！一ヶ所で買い物をしては、両腕いっぱいに花を抱えながら車に戻って来ます。私たち二人、「見て～！こんなに買っちゃった！」と言うものの、心からそう思っている訳じゃありません。もう二人の心は花に奪われた状態。まともなこと考えるなんて無理です。
私は５人の野口博士にサヨナラを言いました。しばらくはスーパーで赤札のついた食品をカゴに入れるようにします。
でも、忘れてはならいことが！この買い物には素晴らしい側面あるんです。この喜びが、毎日、長い間続くというです。秋まで、これらの花を観賞するのを楽しみ、手を掛けることがずっと楽しめるんです。（はい、何事も正当化するために生まれてきました！）
本当に満足です…
