Trip to Seattle 3

 
  We went to downtown Seattle. Every year we go to Pike Place Market for fun and I go in the 1st Starbucks coffee shop to check what kind of tumblers they’ve got¹. ( Some of the readers might know that I’m a Starbucks tumbler collector! )

  Pike Place Market is one of the famous visiting spots in Seattle. You can get fresh seafood, fresh flowers, and lots and lots of arts and crafts² shops sell a lot of interesting stuff³. Since we were there on the weekend this time, it was really packed. At Starbucks, it was packed, too. People made a long line to get some good coffee. If you are a person who enjoys a bustling atmosphere, it’s not a bad idea to visit there on the weekend.

  We went down to the water front and had lunch. They serve refillable⁴ drinks AND all-you-can-eat⁵ French fries⁶ (which I’d never heard of before!). How about that ?? I always get excited when I see free refills or all you can eat kinds of things, but too bad ! My eyes are bigger than my stomach⁷. The reality is I can’t eat that much extra because my stomach is small. I always end up asking for a doggy bag⁸ and taking my leftovers⁹ home, which is not bad ! Of course, today, too.

  One of our highlights was a caramel apple shop ! Oh, my ! Look at these !
I often think Japanese sweets are a fusion of art and food, but so are these !!!

  They are mouthwatering¹⁰, aren’t they? They use green apples, which are crispy and sour so that people can enjoy the texture and the combination of sour and sweet. It’s a bit pricy but it’s worth it, I think ! d(^-<)

シアトルへの帰省　3

　シアトルの街の中に行きました。毎年、パイク・プレイス・マーケットに遊びに行き、どんなタンブラーがあるかを見にスタバの１号店にも行きます。（これを読んでいる方の中に、私がスタバのタンブラーのコレクターだと知っている人が何人かいるかと思いますが。）

　パイク・プレイス・マーケットはシアトルの有名な場所の一つ。新鮮な海産物や生花も買えるし、とてもたくさんの手工芸品を売る店が並んでいて、いろんな面白いものを売っています。今回は週末に行ったので、すごく混んでいました。スタバも、美味しいコーヒーを買おうと人が長い行列を作っていました。もし、賑やかな雰囲気を楽しむのが好きであれば、週末に行くのも悪くないですよ。

海岸沿いまで降りて、昼食を取りました。そのレストランでは、飲み物とフライドポテト（ポテトのお代わりは今まで聞いたことがなかった！）は頼めばいくらでもテーブルまで運んでくれます。すごくないですか？無料のお代わりとか食べ放題と聞くと、いつもワクワクしてしまう私ですが、残念！本当は、目が食べたいだけ。いつも持ち帰り用の入れ物をお願いして、食べきれなかったものを家にお持ち帰りというのがお決まりの結末。それも悪くはないですが。もちろん、今日も。

  今日のハイライトの一つはキャラメルアップルの店！ん～！見てください！
和菓子も芸術と食べ物の融合だな～と思うのですが、これもですね。

　美味しそうでしょ！青リンゴが使われています。パリパリして酸っぱいので、その歯ごたえと酸っぱさと甘みの相まった感じが楽しめるのだそう。ちょっと高いけど、その価値はあると思いますよ！d(^-<)
