A Teeny Tiny World vs. A Gigantic World

 　                    
　 One of my friends, who reads my English-Japanese blog (Thank you! ), said to me, "You know what? The ginko¹ trees around here have started shooting their sprouts² and the baby leaves are already in the shape of ginko leaves. They are so cute, so take a look at them, and please write about that on your blog."

                  Here they are!!

  Right after that conversation, I stopped my bike at some ginko trees on my way home.  "Oh, my. Oh, my!"  Really, they are so teeny tiny³ and they are the exact microscopic⁴ copies of the adult ginko leaves. They are just 1-2 cms. Even when they are so tiny, the shapes are so perfect. I didn’t know this is how they grow.

  And, by chance⁵, I had a totally opposite⁶ experience when I was taking a walk a month ago on Whidbey Island. I’ll show it to you:

   These are not just normal horsetails⁷. Can you see a ￥100 coin that I put at the bottom? Yes. these are gigantic⁸ horsetails! First, I couldn’t believe my eyes. They were so huge⁹ that I got a bit scared¹⁰. /(^-^;)

  Nature is so amazing! Sometimes you have to look really closely¹¹ to see it.

ちっちゃい世界とおっきい世界

　友人の一人、いつも私の英日ブログを読んでくれている人なのですが、彼女が私に言いました。「知ってる？この辺りの銀杏の木が芽を出し始まったんだけど、ちっちゃな葉っぱが既に銀杏の葉の形をしてるのよ。とっても可愛いから見てみて。そしてブログに書いて！」

　それがこちらです！！

　その話のあとすぐに私は帰る途中にある銀杏の木のところで自転車を止めました。「おや、まあ！」　本当にちっちゃいのなんのって。そして、親の銀杏の葉っぱと全く同じ姿恰好で、でもその何倍も小さなミニチュア版。ものの１～２センチというサイズ。こんなに小さいときから、完璧なかたち。こんな風に成長していくんですねぇ。

　そして、たまたま、１ヶ月ほど前にウィッビ―アイランドで真逆の体験をしていたので、そちらもお見せしちゃいます。

　ただのつくしではありませんよ。下に置かれた１００円玉が見えますか？そうなんです。巨大なつくしです！初め見たとき、目を疑いました。あまりに大きいので、ちょっと怖くなりました。/(^-^;)

　自然って面白いですね！時々よ～く目を見開いてないと。
