Apple Picking(2)

At this year’s apple picking, there was a fun surprise! To make a long tale1 short, just recently we happened to know that our student’s sister is married to the brother our apple farmer!! When we all got to know2 this, everybody had goose bumps3 because there are many appple orchard owners in that area.

When we got there, our student’s sister was there. As soon as we got out of4 the car, she came to greet5 us. Of course, I was able to tell who she is before she introduced herself. We haven’t met before, but I felt like I already knew her. Now we feel we have a special bond6 with that family. We all talked about this amazing coincidence7 for a while.

By the way, since I was a kid, I’ve loved apples. My mom often said to me, Ri as in Rie is Ri as in "ringo(apple)." And when my mom put some apple in my lunch, my favorite shape was a peacock. So I did the same thing for my kid’s lunch when she was little.

Recently, it’s popular in our house to cut apples into round slices. When we visited Will’s old friend, she served apples this way. Her life style is quite artistic.

If you wash an apple really good, you don’t have to peel the skin8 and you don’t have to cut the precious9 edible part near the seeds. By cutting this way, we can keep eating till you get really close to the seeds. We don’t waste any part of the apple. This is an ecologically friendly10 eating style. Easy to serve and produces no waste!  Following the former topic of the blog, this is another example of killing two birds with one stone! Plus fun & fashionable! How about that? (o^-^o)
