Our Garden

  How was your Golden Week? Our Golden Week was quiet¹ but wonderful — that’s how I want it. (We went to a restaurant for lunch², I enjoyed flower shopping with my friend, Will enjoyed birding with his friend, we spent some time with my mom and we both enjoyed gardening together!)

 

 

  Since I go on a flower shopping spree³ every Golden Week, this is the time for Will and I to get our garden ready for⁴ its season. Me and my friend always plan this trip early in Golden Week so that we can plant the flowers during the holiday. This is how much I got:

 

 

 

  Then, slowly, while also doing other stuff for GW, we enjoyed gardening: planting those flowers, trimming⁵ some branches, repotting⁶ some old plants, and so on. It’s so much fun to work in the garden for a few days under the nice spring sunlight. 

 

  Now our garden looks like this:

 

 

  Some plants welcome our guests near the front door.

 

 

   Golden Week is over, but we are enjoying our life more thanks to what we did⁷ during that time.

 

 

  Much to our hapiness⁸, since a couple of days ago, a pair of great tit⁹ started nesting in the bird house, making our life even more special!

(If you look carefully, you can see a bird flying right out of¹⁰ the hole!)

 

 

　

 

私たちの庭

　皆さんのゴールデンウィークはいかがでしたか？私たちは特に大きな予定も入れず、でもいいゴールデンウィークを過ごしました。— そんな風な過ごし方を求めていたんです。（ランチを食べにレストランへ行き、私は友人と花を買いに行き、ウィルは友人と鳥を観に出掛け、母とも少し時間を過ごし、あとは二人でガーデニング！）

　毎年私がゴールデンウィークには思いっきり花を買いに行くので、ここで一気にウィルと二人で庭の手入れをします。私と友人はゴールデンウィークの早めの日にちに花の買い物の予定を組み、休み中に花が植えられるようにしています。今年はこのくらい買ってきました。

　それから、連休に他のことも楽しみながら、ゆっくりとガーデニングを楽しみます。これらの花を植えたり、枝を切ったり、植物の植え替えをしたり。心地よい春の日差しの下で何日か庭仕事をするのはとっても楽しいことです。

　今、庭はこんな感じです。

　玄関の辺りでは、こんな植物がお客様をお出迎え。

　ゴールデンウィークは終わりましたが、そこでやった庭仕事のお陰で、今もっと自分たちの日常が楽しめています。

　そして、とても嬉しいことに、２、３日まえから、シジュウカラの夫婦が庭の巣箱で巣作りを始めました。もっと生活が楽しくなっています！（よく見ると、鳥が穴から飛び立っているところが見えますよ！）
