Pumpkins 2014
Summer is over, so we started harvest1ing our pumpkins one by one. Finally, we harvested our biggest pumpkin!
First thing in the morning2, I made a safety net. Since I had to make it huge, I used the stairecase3 to hold the end of the strings. Of course, Tasha couldn’t stay away from4 it.
I weaved the net dexterously5 (←according to Tim. Yes, Tim was visiting us for a week.), so he called me a "Spider Woman"! ↓↓↓
Then, we put the net around the pumpkin. ↓↓↓ After the safety net was in place, we put a tarp6 under the pumpkin to help us carry it. Our neighbors’s little boy also helped us! ↓↓↓
Then, with 5 adults, 1 junior high school boy and his little brother, we pulled the pumpkin up to the road from the hill where the pumplin was growing. This hill is quite steep7. That’s why I had to make a "spider" net to make sure that it wouldn’t roll down the hill into the canal. Me and Will, Tim, our neighbor, his father-in-law8, and two boys! It was so great to have so many people to assist this pumpkin-carry project. ↓↓↓
Then, it was safely settled in its position9. It didn’t roll down the hill, nor was it10 dropped while being carried. We did it!
This year, it was too big to weigh on our regular scale, so we don’t know how heavy it is. Guessing from our old pumpkins, it could be about 100kg, maybe?
We will keep it like this until a week before Halloween, and then carve it to make a Jack-o’-lantern. Wait for an update at the end of October!
