The Sazae-san Shaped Sponge Cake from Nagoya
What a fun treat! One of my students, who went to Nagoya recently, showed up to1 her class with this cute souvenir2. (Why does it say "Limited in Nagoya"? Because they use eggs from Nagoya Kochin, a special kind of Chicken in Nagoya to make them.)
The bag was filled with3 many Sazae-san family members. It was fun to put my hand in the bag and pick up4 one after another because I couldn’t tell who would be coming up. We carefully counted how many there were in the bag and evenly divided them into 3 portions5. I had Wakame-chan(Seawead girl), Tama-chan(the cat), Katsuo-kun(Bonito boy), and Sazae-san(Mrs. Turban shell).
I felt a little sorry to EAT these nationally popular old comic strip6 characters, and also I felt strange putting this human shaped cake into my mouth because it’s like the same species7 eating each other. (^-^;)
However, once8 I started eating them, they were so good that I gobbled9 all of them just like a hungry carnivore10, totally forgetting what sentiments11 I had a moment before.
We had a fun snack time at night. Thank you! We all enjoyed them.
p.s.★In the photo, I tried to represent our family. The cat is in the middle — just like a cat is the center of our family right. We saved her around last Christmas time(or she chose us to look after her). She is very energetic and so cuddly12. Of course, we also love our dog. Our dog also likes her, but only when she stays quiet. The cat in the Sazae-san’s family is Tama-chan, and the one in our family is Tasha-chan.
