  When I came to Japan, I collected telephone cards! But that is another blog…

 

  I collected pins (still do, a little), books and following my Dad’s footsteps³, rocks.

 

  I went with my father on many rockhounding⁴ trips. We went to mountains and beaches and everywhere in between⁵. We looked for agates⁶ and geodes⁷, fossils⁸ – and sometimes arrowheads⁹.

 

  My best find¹⁰ was this:

 
  (It’s about 6cm long.) 

  Recently I have been thinking of starting a new collection. I thought, I love arrowheads, I live in Japan, how about Japanese arrowheads?

 

  Here are the first ones I bought:

 

 

  They come from Fukushima and Tochigi and are probably Jomon era arrowheads. It’s so fun to hold something that was made more than 2 thousand years ago!

 

  I bought a new set of Jomon points recently. Aren’t they beautiful!

 
 

 

  Of course the most fun thing to do would be to go out and find some myself – after all¹¹, the area around Sendai has Jomon sites¹² everywhere, but I still haven’t found a good place to hunt.
