White Day
Before having White Day, some nice smell was coming out of the kitchen of our house. And what came out of the kitchen was ・・・
star-shaped cupcakes with icing on top!!!

Can you think of1 somebody else who would make this kind of stuff2 in this house?
・・・Wiiiill. I know you can’t believe it, but me, neither3.
First, I was speechless4. Then, I asked him "Did you really make these?" Then, I started giggling5 because I was so struck by the sight there he stood in front of me, holding a plate with cute colorful star-shaped cupcakes AND SMILING. Of course, his tacit6 question was "So, what do you think?"
Oh my, oh my ! What surprise !!
Bravo !
I knew he was planning to prepare some returning presents for his students who gave him chocolate on Valentine’s Day and he went to a shop to buy some cake mix. And also, he asked me if I had some icing recipe, so I gave him the icing recipe for cinnamon rolls. However, I don’t know what I was expecting but I didn’t expect this outcome “for sure7”.
Starting today8, I would like to call him "the Patissier of the House."

5 辞書には「くすくす笑う」とありますが、しのび笑いとはちょっと違います。
7 分詞構文を使った場合の表現。「今日を皮切りに」と「今日から」のような聞こえの違いとでも言ったらよいのでしょうか。意味の違いはありません。

※「皮切り」とは「最初に据える灸」が原義だと初めて知りました。確かにmake senseですね～。最近、朝のテレビ番組で「孫（麻姑）の手」の由来もやっていましたね。Really interesting!!

ホワイトデー
ホワイトデーを前に、我が家ではキッチンからいい匂いがしていました。そして、キッチンから出てきたものは・・・
アイシングの乗った星型のカップケーキでした。
誰が作ったと思いますか?
・・・いえ、私ではありません。
この家で、こういうものを作りそうなのは誰か、他に思いあたる人がいますか？
・・・ウィルで～す。信じられないですよね。私も信じられません。
まず、私は言葉が出ず、次に「本当に作ったの？」と聞き、それからけらけらと笑い始めてしまいました。何故って、カワイイ色とりどりの星型のカップケーキの乗ったお皿を持ちながら、にっこり笑って、彼が目の前に立っている光景があまりに滑稽だったから。もちろん、声には出てないけれど彼の質問は、「・・で、どう思う？」
おやまあ、おやまあ！驚きです！！
天晴れです！
バレンタインデーにチョコレートをくださった方に何かお返しを準備する計画をしていたのは知っていましたし、ケーキミックスを買いにお店に行ったのも知っていました。アイシングのレシピはないかと聞かれたので、シナモンロール用のアイシングのレシピを教えました。でも、何を想像していたかって・・・、まあ、このような代物がお目見えするということは予期していなかったのは確かです。
今日から、「我が家のパティシエ」と呼んであげようと思います。
