  I’m writing about our Halloween on the night of October 31. We were super busy making¹ our Halloween week fun for our students, especially for our kid students.

  A week ago, Will was working really hard to prepare his Jack-o’-lanterns. After my last class, I also joined and helped him. We were out preparing the pumpkins until past 10:00 at night.

  This is what we (mainly Will) made.

   These are close-ups² of them. Now I realize that this year we didn’t have a standard Jack-o’-lantern face!

… but our neighbor did! We always do Halloween together. Our neighbor dad also has a green thumb³! 

  This year again, we talked with many people who came to see our jack-o’-lanterns. I like this relaxed neighborhood and enjoy the bond⁴ with people. When we opened the front door, we often scared people who were taking photos of the jack-o’-lanterns. They say "Sorry!" but it’s not a "sorry" thing — please, please feel free to take⁵ photos and enjoy them with your friends or your family!

  Most people don’t see it, but inside the house is also quite Halloweeny⁶. We have dancing skeletons, a scary gargoyle, a talking ghost, a haunted teaching room, and more.

  Our bathroom is also decorated for Halloween!

  Now beside me, Will is saying "Halloween is over!" He worked really hard, starting in mid-April when he started seeding. He drove so many times to the field, made eyeballs and arms for the Jack-o’-lanterns and sweated keeping⁷ them nice and dry, which is the most difficult part.

  Anyway, I know he will start working for next year’s Halloween in April, forgetting all the difficulty he had this year.
