Sorry I Was Quiet …
Sorry that I didn’t write a blog for a while. The reason was our kid came back with the future member of our family and I tried to spend as much family time as possible. We went out together. I cooked some fun Japanese food. I tried to do a lot of things with them in addition to1 my classes, and writing a blog got pushed to the back of the line2 (even though I tried…).
Since this month I will upload just one blog, I will prepare this blog with a bit more photos than usual. Please enjoy some highlights from our life recently.
Soon after they arrived, we went to Yamagata and visited the jellyfish3 Aquarium and Haguro-san, and saw a cedar4 tree which is more than a thousand years old, and the pagoda5, which is the oldest pagoda in the Tohoku Region. The view from the tea house in the middle of the mountain was breathtaking6! We saw some very special birds called aka-sho-bin (ruddy kingfisher) on top of the mountain.
 
 
We went to the Japanese garden in Rin-no-ji Temple and enjoyed walking around the quiet atmosphere7, looking at very picturesque8 scenes. When I was young, my parents and I often visited there, but not for the last 20 years or so. It’s nice to go out and see the beauty of Japanese culture sometimes.
 
 
Of course, we went to Matsushima. Here my dream came true! We sat down at a cafe called Le Roman with some drinks, enjoying a nice summer breeze outside and the great view of Matsushima. After this, we visited Entsu-in and Zuigan-ji.
 
 
We did many more fun things. — We had breakfast at a family restaurant with our friend. We saw Blue Impulse. We went out to see the Kizuna Matsuri. They went to Kokubun-cho (without me). Our friend invited us to their house and we had a wonderful time, and more … We had a very nice family time together.
Not only that, when we have guests, we have one more thing that we always enjoy. we always enjoy seeing our life through their eyes. Even our super normal slices of life9 look special. It opens our eyes and we feel we should cherish10 our super normal life…

注）
３ jelly は「ゼリー状の」という意味では使うのですが、名詞の食べ物の「ゼリー」としては使われません。（少なくともアメリカ英語では！） 「ゼリー」は、水を足して固めて作るハウスのゼリエースのような Jello という商品の名前が代わりによく使われます。
英語では他にも、tissue の代わりに 「Kleenex 取って」と商標名で呼ぶことも可能です。（別なメーカーのティッシュでも！）
実は日本のホチキスも今では文房具の名前としてまかり通っていますが、元は商標名です。

ご無沙汰していてゴメンなさい…
しばらくブログをアップしていなくてすみませんでした。私たちの子どもが将来私たちの家族となる人と帰って来ていたので、可能な限り家族の時間を過ごすようにしていました。一緒に出掛けたり、美味しい日本の料理を作ったり、仕事をしながら２人と他にもたくさんのことをしようとしていたら、ブログを書くことが後回しになってしまいました。（書こうとはしたのですが…）
今月はブログが一つだけになるので、少しでも楽しんで頂けるよういつもよりちょっと写真多めでお届けします。私たちの最近の生活のハイライトをお楽しみください。
２人が帰って来てからすぐに、私たちは山形に行き、クラゲの水族館と羽黒山を訪れ、１０００年以上の樹齢の杉と東北で最古の五重の塔を見てきました。中腹での茶屋からの眺めは絶景でした。頂上では、アカショウビンと呼ばれる特別な鳥(カワセミの仲間)を見ました。
また、輪王寺の日本庭園に行き、絵になる風景を満喫しながら静かな佇まいの中で散歩をしました。私が若かった頃は、両親とよく行ったものですが、ここ２０年ぐらいは一度も行っていませんでした。時々こんな風に出掛けて日本文化の美しさに触れてくるのも良いものですね。
もちろん松島にも行きました。念願叶って、ル・ロマンというカフェにも行って、気持ちよい夏のそよ風と松島の素晴らしい眺めを堪能しながらが、飲み物を頂いて来ました。このあと、円通院と瑞巌寺を巡って来ました。
本当にたくさんの楽しいことをしました。— 友人とみんな一緒にファミレスで朝ごはんを食べたり、ブルーインバルスを見たり、絆まつりを見に出掛けたり。（私は行けませんでしたが）国分町に行ったり、友人が家に招いてくれてみんなで素敵な時間を過ごしたり。まだまだもっと楽しみました。家族みんなでとても良い時間を過ごしました。
そして、それだけではなく、誰かお客さんが来た時私たちもう一つ楽しむことがあるんです。私たちの生活を彼らの目を通して味わうこと。なんてことないごく普通の生活もちょっと違って見えます。見方が変わって、なんの変哲もない普通の生活が有難く感じます…
