It’s been almost 10 days since we went to see our friend in Yamagata, but since we had such a great time, today, I’ll talk about it here.
We’ve known this friend for a long time. 5 years ago, she was transfered to1 Yamagata. Every time we meet her when she comes back to Sendai, she says that we should come visit her in Yamagata. Finally, we did it!
On that day, we hit the road2 at about 9:30. We bought some bread for her as a present and filled up the car with gas3, and off we went!4 On the highway, we enjoyed the scenery. To get to Yamagata we go over mountains, so the changing colors on the mountainsides were very pretty.
Soon after we got into Yamagata City, we had lunch at a funky pizza restaurant. We loved the name, and of course, their pizza. It was reeeeally good.
Then, we went to see her place. As we expected, her place was really cool5 and cozy6. Her taste is always nice. So there were a lot of hints to make our house better. She had a nice view of the mountains from the windows!
After that, we took a walk in Momiji Park. It was within walking distance of her place7. It took 15-20 minutes. If Ichigo-chan had walked faster, not sniffing8 around every corner of the street, we could have gotten there in 10 minutes. The changing colors of the autumn leaves9 was astonishing10 — just by themselves, against11 the blue sky, and also on the surface of the pond. Our doggy seemed to be enjoying walking in a new place.
At the end, we sat in a nice café. They remodeled an old Japanese storehouse12 into a café. It had a nice and calm atmosphere. With coffee and cake, we had a nice ending to our day trip.
Since we have a cat and a dog, going on a trip is usually difficult, but this one was really easy. Getting on the highway from our house only took 15 minutes, and then in 40 minutes we were there. Will said it was much shorter than some of his usual birdwatching trips. We had a nice one-day trip13 for a change14!
p.s. I wish I could travel with Tasha like Noro, the traveling cat. Then, we could really enjoy a trip together!
