Things We Enjoy This Season
Don’t you think we had a long, wonderful cherry tree season this year? The weather was perfect. — There was no strong rain to make the flowers fall. And also, the temperature was good. Even the peak was on the weekend!
I didn’t go out anywhere special, but just in the range of1 my activities I was able to get so many nice photos of the cherry blossoms.
One day I happened to find2 this spot when I was cruising by bike downtown. With the red Torii and a tiny shrine, and a nice little path to a tavern…
When my big band played in Tsutsujigaoka Park for the Cherry Blossom Music Festival. A nice weeping cherry tree.
On my way to work. Next to the entrance of my local elementary school.
At the foot of the Hirose Bridge. The tree has a wonderful shape.
Near my house. They also look so nice when light comes through the petals3.
 
As I took these, I photographed the monument to Hashi Hime Myojin* and the two swans who gave up going back to Siberia and are staying in the Hirose River. (Of course it’s sad, but two together make me feel less4 sad because last year there was only one.)
Thanks to5 the cherry blossoms, I really noticed6 the many beautiful things around me!

この季節の楽しみ
今年は長くて素敵な桜のシーズンを楽しめましたよね。天候がバッチリでした —- 花を散らしてしまう雨もなく、気温も良くて。それに、桜の満開も週末に上手くかかった感じでしたね！
特別どこかに行くということはなかったものの、普段の行動範囲の中でたくさんの素敵な桜の写真を撮り溜めることが出来ました。
ある日、たまたま街の中を自転車で走り回っていた時にこの場所に遭遇しました。鳥居と小さな神社と居酒屋さんへと続くこじゃれた小道と…
私が入っているビッグバンドが花見ライブで榴ヶ岡公園で演奏した時。枝垂桜。
仕事に行く途中。地元の小学校の門の隣りに。
広瀬橋のたもとで。枝ぶりがとても綺麗な桜の木。
家の近くで。夜、光が花びらを照らしてもこんなに素敵に見えるんですね。
これらの写真を撮りながら、橋姫明神の石碑とシベリアへ戻らず広瀬川に残ることにした２羽の白鳥も写真に収めました。（もちろん悲しいけど、去年は１羽だけで頑張ったから、今年は２羽一緒でまだマシかなぁ。）
桜のお陰で、身の回りにあるたくさんの美しいものに目を向けることが出来ました！
