An Extra!(CINNABON)
Originally, I was planning to update my blog with the second part of "a summary of our summer," but I’ve just gotten a great thing from our guests who just came from the states. Please excuse me for issuing1 an "extra edition" at this moment2.
The reason is ・・・・ Ta da !!!
My favorite sweets, Cinnamon rolls from "Cinnabon," arrived !
Our friends, Tim and Betty, who now live in Los Angeles, took a vacation3 and came over to Sendai to see us and the Jazz Festival. Tim is an old friend of Will, and this is his 3rd visit to Sendai. Every time he comes4, his souvenir5 for us is cinnamon rolls from Cinnabon.
The first time I got to know these cinnamon rolls6 was when I was studying in the U.S. One of my Japanese friends said to me, " Do you like sweets? I know a very good sweets shop. I can take you there! Oh, and make sure that you don’t eat anything before that." That was my first visit to Cinnabon. ( This name’s got to be "Cinna" from cinnamon and "bon" from the French expression "C’est bon! ")
Every year when we go back to Seattle, I ask Will to take me to the mall and have a "Cinnabon" cinnamon roll. Before Tim moved to L.A., we always met at Cinnabon. He well understands that I’m super fond of7 Cinnabon!
Since he knows that, every time he comes to Japan, he carries a big box of Cinnabon for us. When we hug, saying "Hey! Long time no see!" he gives me a one-arm8 hug. You know why? ‘Cause he holds a box of Cinnabon with his one hand behind him. He tries to hide that from me, but I always know what’s going on9 behind his back.
Well, by the way, once you taste Cinnabon cinnamon rolls10, you can’t eat any other cinnamon rolls, that’s for sure !
There are some Cinnabons in Tokyo, so if you have a chance to go to Tokyo, I strongly recommend you try it. Or you may get a recipe from the English Cinnabon site, which says "Top Secret11." ( Will’s sisiter found it for me more than 10 years ago.)
Trivia12 : The first Cinnabon restaurant was at Sea-Tac airport* in Seattle ( I got to know that this time ), but unfortunately about 4 years ago, it disappeared from the airport. That’s a shame because it used to be the routine of our trip to Seatle that we enjoyed at Cinnabon at the airport in the last minute before heading back to Japan.

号外！（シナボン）
本当は、前の「夏のまとめ」の第二弾でブログをアップする予定でしたが、アメリカからやってきたお客さまから素晴らしいものを頂いちゃったので、すみませんが、この度は号外を発行いたします。
その理由とは・・・・じゃ～ん!!! こちらです。
私の大好物、シナボンのシナモンロールが到着！
私たちの友人、ティムとベティは、今ロサンゼルスに住んでいる友人なのですが、休暇を取って、私たちに会うためとジャズフェスを見るために仙台にやって来ました。ティムはウィルの昔からの友人で、今回仙台に来るのは３回目。来る時のお土産はいつも、シナボンのシナモンロールです。
私が初めてこのシナモンロールを知ったのは、アメリカに留学していたときのこと。日本人の友人の一人が私に言いました。「甘いもの好き？すっごく美味しいのを置いている店を知っているんだ。連れて行ってあげるよ。あ、そうそう、その前には絶対何も食べちゃダメだよ。」 それが私が初めてシナボンと出会ったときでした。（この名前は、明らかにシナモンの「シナ」とフランス語の表現「美味しい！」のゴロ合わせでしょうね。）
毎年、私たちがシアトルに帰省する際、私はウィルにモールに連れて行って、シナボンのシナモンを食べさせてとお願いします。ティムがLAに引っ越す前は、私たちの会う場所はいつもシナボンでした。彼は、私のシナボン好きを百も承知ですから。
そんなんで、日本に来るときは大きなシナボンの箱を抱えてやって来るんです。「ヘーイ！久しぶりだね～！」とハグするとき、彼は片手ハグなんです。何故かって？もう片方の手は、背中でシナボンの箱を持っているからです。私に見つからないようにってしてるけど、私は彼の背中で何が起こっているかはお見通しです。
ところで、このシナボンのシナモンロールを食べてしまったら、もう他のシナモンロール、絶対食べられなくなります。
東京にもいくつかあるので、もし東京に行く機会があれば、是非是非ご賞味ください！英語のシナボンサイトに行くと、「極秘」となってレシピが取れるかも知れません。（ウィルの妹が私のために、１０年以上も前に見つけてくれました。）
豆知識：シナボンの一号店はシータック空港に作られました。（私も今回知りました。）でも、残念ながら４年ぐらい前に空港から消えてしまったんです。ん～、とても残念。何故なら私たちのシアトルへの帰省のとき、日本に帰る直前、最後の最後に、必ず空港でシナボンを食べるというのがお決まりだったからです。
