Little Fun Things around Me! (1)
I love gardening (but in winter our garden lies fallow1), and also I love taking care of small plants in my room. In winter, of course, they seldom show signs of growth — I thought…. but look!
It started to spin thread2! From the original plant, I separated each small new sprout3 and planted them. That was last November. For a while, the baby plants stayed the same, but a couple of days ago, I noticed they got a bit bigger and started gathering a cotton candy kind of thing! In reality, this is about 7mm in diameter4. I know it’s a microscopic5 thing, but I was really thrilled6 by this discovery!
And next, look here, too. The second generations are making progress7.
I have a lot of children plants, grandchildren plants, great-grandchildren8, great-great-grandchildren…. in the little corner of my room. Especially, I love to grow the second generation of succulents9.
This plant is called Tsukitoji — Moon Rabbit’s Ear. It takes time to come this far! Yippee! Finally! Welcome, kiddos10! They are just 2 to 5 mm tall. Just newborn11 babies. Isn’t it amazing even little creatures have the power to grow?
While my eyes zeroed in on12 the miniature world, I got a very nice surprise! The water I used to water some plants in the morning turned into13 a gem14! Voila15!

p.s. Did you know that when you try to get a child leaf out of a Tsukitoji leaf, a baby will grow from the cut even if the leaves get cut or broken in the middle, so don’t throw the broken leaves away!

私のまわりのプチ楽しみ！（１）
私、ガーデニングも好きですが（冬は休耕中）、部屋で小さな植物をいじるのも好きなんです。冬はやっぱり育っている兆しを見せないんですが・・・、と思ったら、これです！
糸巻きを始めていました！親になる植物から、新しく成長している部分を取って、新たに植えました。それが去年の１１月。しばらく、この新芽はそのまま様子が変わらず。でも、２、３日前に気付きました。一回り大きくなっていて、綿菓子みたいなふわふわをまとい始めていました！本物は、直径７ミリほどです。ほんとミクロの世界を覗いているようなものですが、この発見に大興奮しました！
お次は、こちらを見てください。
部屋の片隅にたくさん、子の代、孫の代、ひ孫の代、やしゃごの代・・・と植物を育てているです。特に、多肉植物の二世を育てるのが好き。
これは月兎耳を呼ばれる植物。ここまで来るのに、かなり時間がかかります！やったー！お子ちゃまたち、こんにちは！また２～５ミリほどしかありません。生まれたての赤ちゃんです。こんな小さな植物に、これだけの生命力が備わっているなんて、不思議ですね。
そして、このミニチュアの世界に目が合ってきたころ、すてきなサプライズがありました！朝、植物にあげた水が、宝石に変わっていました！こちら！

p.s. 月兎耳の葉から次の目を出したい時、葉に切れ目が入っていても、真っ二つに割れていても、その断面から目を出すって知ってました？だから、切れている葉も捨てないでくださいね！
